Why be active ?

I have been trying to find some easy to use information for any of us to refer to when helping individuals understand the importance of being active. I’m not talking about running miles but simply being part of everyday activities for people who have become for whatever reason more and more reliant on help. We can slip easily into a passive role and by consequence become low in mood and loose a sense of ourselves as worthwhile. I came across these two diagrams in the Living Well Through Activity Toolkit designed by OTs and available on the COT Website. I rather liked it as it easily gives us the benefits on so many different levels to share with our clients, to hopefully enable them to take a more active role in their lives and feel worthwhile.
